Nintendo Wii Play Sales Cross 10 Million Mark in US
March 23rd 2009 08:49
Nintendo has claimed to have sold more than 10 million units of the Wii Play in the United States since its release about two years ago. They attribute it's success the great collection of mini-games bundled alongwith the Wii remote control.
"Even if you believe people are buying Wii Play solely for the controller, that indicates that there are now more than 10 million people who have an extra Wii Remote controller in their homes," says Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo's executive VP of sales and marketing.
Nintendo quoted this milestone from the February sales figures for the video-game industry released this week by market researcher NPD Group. As of February, Nintendo has sold 19 million Wii consoles in the United States since release in November 2006. Nintendo plans to release it's next big model - the DSi - in the US by April this year.
